Lesson Plan

Before each class I try to come early and engage conversation with my students to establish sincere rapports with them. At my first day of class a ensure my students that the class is an all-inclusive environment, that respect and empathy are major requirements. I remind them how the attendance, participation and collaboration are important for their learning and their grades.

At the beginning of each class we discuss about what they retained from the previous courses and what they would like to revise. I go over these questions and use small quiz techniques to ensure what they retained.

During my courses I present power points and videos about the new subject. I Integrate some games and a lot of discussion by asking them simple questions so that they can be more engaged and make a link between their previous experiences and the new concepts.

I let my students decide about the breaks (not more than two 15mn breaks during 3 hours of course) and manage the time of the courses if they need to leave the class early for personal reasons.

For my Project Management Class, I always use “collaborative groups” technique, which is dividing the class in teams of 4 or 5 students. Students choose their own group and their own Project subjects to work on during the whole course and present at the end of the semester for their final grade. I make sure that they choose their dream project that they will be passionate to work on, and that they convince other classmates to join their project.

Students change the classroom sitting to be able to work accurately with their own groups.

At the end of my class I ask my students if they have any questions, and I prepare small quizzes or draw concept maps to help them retain better the lessons. I never give directly answers but the clues and sources to them to find their own solutions. I welcome all their answers, to encourage their participations.

At the end of each course, students have an hour to work with their team with my assistance on their project. They can ask questions to other groups and to me, which allows them to have discussions between them and having peer instructions. For their team work they have to work around two hours each week outside of the class.

During the courses and at the very end I ask my students to rate unanimously my teaching and the course content. I take seriously in consideration their feedbacks and revise regularly my approach and methods of teaching. I learn a lot from my students and they learn even more from each other.
